  • Do I meet the requirements for pre-travel COVID-19 testing?

    If you require a pre-travel COVID-19 test, please ensure that you meet the requirements below:

    • You are asymptomatic (you do not have any symptoms);
    • You have not been in close contact with a positive case;
    • You or any dependant you are booking for are 6 years old and older;
    • For travellers, you understand that your testing MUST be done within 50-60 hours prior to your departure and that results will be available 24 to 48 hours after you have completed your test.*
    If you require COVID -19 Antigen rapid test, please ensure that you meet the requirements below:
    • You are asymptomatic (you do not have any symptoms);
    • You have not been in close contact with a positive case.

  • When should I get tested for travel?

    For the COVID-19 PCR swab test:

    • Travellers must be tested prior to boarding their flights. Please ensure you book your appointments with enough time to secure your results.
    • Your results may take 24 to 48 hours after you have completed your test to be sent to you.

    For the Covid- 19 Antigen Rapid Test:

    • Qualitative Test completed on the day of the appointment followed by a reliable Certificate for schools and/or employers.

  • What is an asymptomatic case of COVID-19?

    An asymptomatic case is an individual who has a laboratory confirmed positive test and who has no symptoms during the complete course of infection.

  • Can I take a test for asymptomatic infections?

    Yes you can!

    You don't need to be travelling to take one of our tests. If you're asymptomatic, you can come in to take a test to ensure you are not infected by booking at one of our locations:

  • What happens if my test is positive?

    If your results are positive, our clinic will forward the positive test to the local Public Health Unit. Please contact your local Public Health Unit for further instructions.

  • What type of test do you offer?

    We offer the COVID-19 RT-PCR Swab and the Rapid Antigen Tests.

    The COVID-19 swab test is a polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)/nucleic acid amplification test, which tells you if you have COVID-19 at the time of the test.

    • The test uses a sample collected from a person’s nose, using a non-invasive swab that goes approximately 1cm into the nostril.
    • The test will not tell you if you had COVID-19 in the past.

    Covid- 19 Antigen Rapid Test

    • This is a Qualitative Test completed on the day of the appointment followed by a reliable Certificate for schools and/or employers.

  • For what reason can I book a test?

    COVID-19 RT-PCR swab and Covid- 19 Antigen Rapid Test.

    If you feel like you may be experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms please contact your local Public Health for further instructions.

    Before you book, review the question "Do I meet the requirements for testing?" to ensure that you qualify to book an appointment.

  • I have COVID-19 symptoms, may I get tested?

    NO.

    This service is ONLY for patients with NO COVID-19 symptoms (asymptomatic) that require a COVID-19 test for travelling purposes.

    If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please contact your local Public Health Unit.

  • Can my children get tested?

    Yes! We offer testing for children of all ages.

    If you are booking for both you and your child, please book two appointments, one for each of you.

  • What do I need to bring to my testing appointment?

    At the time of booking, you will require the following information for each person you are booking on behalf of.

    • Passport for identification (for each person booked )
    • Health Card (for each person booked)
  • How much does the test cost?

    The pre-travel COVID-19 RT-PCR test is not covered by OHIP.  Our regular RT-PCR test is available at a cost of $165 (tax included) per test and our Expedited RT-PCR test is $200 (tax included) per test.

    The COVID -19 Antigen rapid test is not covered by OHIP and is available at a cost of $40 (tax included) per test.

  • When is payment due and how can I pay?

    The payment for your regular or expedited COVID-19 RT-PCR swab test or COVID -19 Antigen Rapid test must be made by credit card online at the time of booking.

  • Who do I contact if I have not received my test results or a correction is needed?

    All tests are emailed to the emails provided upon booking or at check-in point. Please check your spam box as it may have been directed to there automatically.  If still not received, please contact the location by email in which the test was conducted and a staff member will respond to your inquiry.

  • Is the COVID Travel Test service suitable for my airline or destination?

    Not all airlines or destinations have the same requirements in terms of COVID-19 testing. Our COVID-19 test type, testing window, and results’ turnaround time may not be suitable for your particular airline or destination.

    Review the requirements from your airline or final destination pertaining to COVID-19 testing and confirm that the type of test offered by COVID Travel Test meets these requirements.

    We are not responsible for confirming or validating this information on your behalf.

  • It's past 48 hours after my test and I have not received the results, what should I do?

    Your test results will be emailed to you directly from the clinic you booked with. If you have not received your test results within 48 hours, please complete the following steps:

    1. Check your junk folder as our email might not have reached your inbox.
    2. Contact us by phone to confirm your email address and confirm the results.
  • What do I do if I've recovered from COVID-19 after testing positive?

    At COVID Travel Test, we offer a service called Letter Of Recovery.

    To receive a Letter Of Recovery, you must have had:

    1. At least one positive Rapid Antigen or RT-PCR Test for COVID-19. (not applicable for at-home tests)
    2. You must have also isolated the appropriate length of time per your vaccination status:
      • 5 days if vaccinated 2 doses, or 2 doses plus a booster; 10 days if unvaccinated.
      • You must be improving 24 hrs before ending the isolation;
      • If at day 5 symptoms appear they must be non-symptomatic for 10 days before you can retest.
  • What is a Virtual Rapid Antigen Test?

    A Virtual Rapid Antigen Test is a standard rapid antigen test that you can do yourself in conjunction with a web-based video appointment with us to watch you perform the test to ensure accurate results.

    This process is valuable as it allows you to take a physical testing kit with you if you are traveling, and perform the test before you come back to Canada.

    There are some caveats: the testing kit you use must be provided by us prior to your departure. You will also need a working internet connection at your destination in order for us to observe the test occurring.
